Donald Trump Jr. Goes Off After Howard Stern Says He Hates Trump Voters — ‘Neutered Shell Of His Former Self’

When Howard Stern recently bashed Trump voters, he apparently hit a nerve with the president’s son. Donald Trump Jr. went off, in an interview and tweets, calling the infamous entertainer “desperate to be relevant” and said Stern had “gone politically correct” and “establishment.”

Donald Trump and Howard Stern have a long history. Some of Trump’s most infamous shocking statements have been on Stern’s radio show. HuffPost reported in 2018 on an interview in which Stern discussed Trump’s appearances on his show, in which Trump sexualized his daughter — “You know who’s a great beauty? My daughter Ivanka. Now she’s a 10.”

However, according to Deadline, Stern spoke about Trump on his radio show this week, and was starkly critical. He described Trump as someone who hates his own voters, saying that the people who support Trump the most wouldn’t be allowed inside one of the president’s hotels.

He’d be disgusted by them. Go to Mar-a-Lago, see if there’s any people who look like you.

Stern said that if Trump would be honest enough to say that he’s in over his head, can’t handle the presidency, and has to step down, it would earn a lot of respect. He said he doesn’t hate Trump, but hates the people who put him in office.

I don’t hate Donald. I hate you for voting for him, for not having intelligence.

This all apparently hit Don Jr. very hard. According to The Hill, he called Stern’s opinions “disappointing,” and said that in fact, Trump won the election because he relates so well to blue-collar workers, who he has worked with his entire life.

There’s a reason why you see guys within our company, even today, they started off as construction guys, started off as drivers, and they’re like executives because he gave them a chance.

He also said that Stern “got a taste of Hollywood,” and is attacking Trump to try to stay relevant.

I imagine that Stern’s trying to, you know, grab some attention. There’s a lot of other people doing sort of, you know, that took his model. I think he was a real innovator years ago, but took his model and are frankly just doing it much better now. So I think he’s just probably trying to grab headlines.

Continuing on Twitter, Don Jr. called Stern pathetic, a “neutered shell of his former self,” and a politically correct person that Stern of two decades ago would be ashamed to see.

Howard Stern is in his fifth decade of broadcasting, and has a station on Sirius XM Radio. Like Trump, he’s known for a big personality and for abiding by his own set of rules. Middle Tennessee State University‘s Free Speech Center notes him as an exemplar of “push[ing] the boundaries of good taste and First Amendment free expression rights on the public airwaves.” Typically labeled a ‘shock jock,’ Stern’s on-air personality can largely be described as a series of tests of what’s actually forbidden, and what happens if it’s done anyway. He’s had a series of Federal Communications Commission fines for rule violations, and says that Trump was one of his top five radio guests, and that he appeared on the show “too many times to count.”
