Donald Trump is Targeting GOP Rep Chip Roy, But He is Too Late

Donald Trump went online to call for a primary challenger to Texas Rep. Chip Roy, but the primary filing deadline has already passed.

Chip Roy is considered to be one of the most Conservative members of the House of Representatives. Unlike many Republican voters, the lawmaker is also a fan of Ron DeSantis and endorsed the Florida Governor over the former President.

Back in March, Roy backed DeSantis, saying he was, "a vibrant and energetic leader with the faith, vision, and courage to chart a new course. It’s time for younger, but proven, leadership to offer America eight solid years of transformational change."

Trump never lets any perceived slight go unnoticed and he attacked Roy online on Monday night. The former President wrote:

"Has any smart and energetic Republican in the Great State of Texas decided to run in the Primary against RINO Congressman Chip Roy. For the right person, he is very beatable. If interested, let me know!!"

Trump has been successful in targeting Republican lawmakers in the past. He endorsed Harriet Hagemen in her race against Liz Cheney and Hageman soundly defeated Cheney.  The former President, though, will not be able to do the same thing to Chip Roy. The filing deadline to primary Roy has already passed. He will run unopposed this year.
