Donald Trump Is Now “Truthing” Calls For Civil War

Donald Trump posted on Twitter more or less nonstop throughout his presidency and campaign, but these days, he’s finally posting truths. Unfortunately, that’s only because a post on his social site, Truth Social, is actually called a truth, regardless of the content. One of his latest truths is just a boost of a call for civil war.

Okay, ahead of the screenshot, let’s have a quick rundown of what you’re seeing, because there are layers of posting, screenshotting, and re-sharing here. First, there’s a post from El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele. He says that for “the most powerful country in the world” to be “falling so fast,” there must be an “enemy” acting from the inside. Next, we have right-wing journalist Lara Logan, who has shared a screenshot of what is, arguably, a newsworthy post. She has added markings and text to identify Bukele for any followers not recognizing the name. An account going by the name “MAGA King Thanos” has shared a screenshot of Logan’s post, adding his own commentary in just two words: “Civil war.”
Donald Trump’s verified Truth Social account has “retruthed,” or reposted, that ‘truth’ in full, including the commentary. You can identify this by the text and symbol in the top right corner of the image.
Here’s your screenshot:

Of course, the post is just vague enough to offer a little plausible deniability that the former president could be, rather than calling for civil war, declaring an opinion that he’s witnessing one already in progress, or making a prediction — but ultimately, there’s no context for which this isn’t horrifying. This is a former president either declaring, proclaiming, identifying, or predicting civil war in America.
