Doctor Rips Trump As ‘Really Disassociated From Reality’ On Coronavirus

President Donald Trump still wants people to believe that he has a handle on what is going on with the global COVID-19 pandemic, otherwise known as coronavirus.

As people scrambled for supplies and protection from the pandemic, Trump told people to “relax” on Sunday. He also said, “It’s a very contagious virus. But something we have tremendous control of.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci, an expert in the field, said, “the worst is, yes, ahead for us.”

Zeke Emmanuel, who advised on matters of health policy when President Barack Obama was in office, went even further, blasting Trump’s delusions on just how serious the situation we are facing is. Emmanuel says of Trump’s statements:

“This was really disassociated from the reality that we’re seeing out there. And he does not seem to be listening to the experts that he has.”

And therein lies the problem. Trump thinks he knows everything, and even when he knows that he doesn’t know anything, he continues to pretend that he does, because Trump is a malignant narcissist. Narcissists cannot stand to have even the appearance of being wrong, looking bad, or needing help.

No matter how bad things get, Trump’s number one priority will be making sure that the public sees him as perfectly in control.

Zeke Emmanuel said that he was glad that testing was an issue the White House was finally getting a handle on; however, the situation of social interaction is still a problem.

“Time is of the essence here and the sense of urgency — I didn’t hear it from the task force or from the other people,” Emmanuel said.

And he likely won’t. Transparency, regardless of how dire the situation, is the last thing on this administration’s minds.
