Dinesh D’Souza Mocks Congress Members For Seeking Therapy After Lives Threatened By MAGA
Legislators were ushered out of Congressional chambers to a safe location. Staffers have described hiding in bathrooms or behind desks. A gallows was erected outside. Some of the insurrectionists were heard chanting, “Hang Mike Pence! Hang Mike Pence!” It’s not an experience most of us would endure on purpose, and it’s not an experience that would leave many people unaffected.
The New York Post reports that, in fact, in about the first month and a half after the attack, the House Office of Employee Assistance had provided about 760 therapy sessions to House members. This isn’t counting any counseling or treatment that members may be getting from private providers.
Conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza responded to this by appearing on Fox News to, along with Laura Ingraham, mock legislators for seeking help with their mental health after experiencing a brush with their own mortality, as seen in the clip below via Daily Beast‘s Justin Baragona.
As we move further and further away from the Jan. 6 insurrection, we will continue to see this kind of revisionism from the right.

“I had to kind of chuckle a little bit because hundreds of Congressional members and staff are apparently in therapy over the events of January 6. They’re literally in counseling, even though not a single one of them apparently was harmed, so what you have here is the attempt to gin up, to create a wartime scenario, with media propaganda, that sort of wartime propaganda to go along with it…in reality, this was a bunch of rowdy people walking through hallways.”
The “rowdy people walking through hallways” are currently being sought by the FBI for the insurrection attempt, and again, they included people threatening the lives of Mike Pence and others.
