Did Melania Trump’s Camp Buy Back Her NFT After Buyers Showed Little Interest?

NFTs have rapidly risen in popularity over the last year or so. There are many issues with the controversial product, but many buyers have been willing to shell out big bucks for them.It was no surprise that the Trump’s were quick to throw a product out into the oversaturated market. Melania Trump offered up a hat she wore to a meet with Emmanuel Macron. Also offered was an NFT of a watercolor painting of her wearing the hat. The bidding was meant to be started at a cost of around $250,00 in the cryptocurrency Solana.

A recent New York Times article outlined the bids on the item. The crypto market suffered a collapse during the auction. There were a few bids around 1,800 Solana which are worth between $170,000-$200,000, lower than the announced minimum bid.

And now, it looks like the final purchase may have been made by Trump or her camp. Ron Filipkowski writes, “It appears that after Melania Trump’s auction of her autographed hat failed to attract the minimum bid, that the person who finally stepped up to buy it was … Melania Trump.”
