Despite COVID-19 Killing 4K People a Day, Jim Jordan Says Cancel Culture is the Biggest Issue in the Country
Last week, Gina Carano was fired from Star Wars show, The Mandalorian. The actress was set to star in a spin-off of th the show, but her social media presence had become too toxic. Carano’s feed was chock full of anti-Semitism, COVID denialism and anti-Trans rhetoric.
To Republican lawmakers, though, the firing wasn’t a result of Carano’s choices and actions. Instead, they blamed “cancel culture.”
Jim Jordan dicussed the topic on Maria Bartiromo’s show on Sunday. The Ohio congressman claimed that cancel culture is the biggest issue currently facing the country.
“We’ve all had it,” Jordan said. “We’ve all got death threats. This is ridiculous. This cancel culture is so dangerous and we have to push back. If we don’t push back on this and stop it and stand up, it will only get worse. So this is the number one issues for the country to address today.”
Sometimes Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz was also a guest on the show. He weighed in, “Cancel culture is quickly becoming American culture. If any lawyer is the subject of this kind of McCarthyism, I will represent you pro bono. I’m going to dedicate myself to making sure that the new McCarthyism of the hard left doesn’t become American culture.”
