Democrats Cheer the Fact That Joe Biden Can Now Fire Louis DeJoy

Donald Trump and the people around him had a number of plans to prevent him from losing the 2020 election. One of the plans was to sabotage the United States Postal Service. Trump-appointed Louie DeJoy to carry out the operation. DeJoy, who had no postal experience, was made Postmaster General.

In the end, the attempt to make voting by mail was not enough to keep Trump in office. Joe Biden would have liked to have fired DeJoy upon taking office, but that was not possible due to a majority of Trump-appointed figures on the Board of Governors. Two of Biden’s nominees have now been passed through the Senate, setting the state to finally fire DeJoy.

Congressman Adam Schiff tweeted on Monday, “Here’s some good news: The Senate *finally* confirmed President Biden’s two picks for the Postal Service Board of Governors. But here’s the even better news: They can finally fire Trump’s Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. And roll back his most dangerous cuts.”

It is unlikely that DeJoy will be missed. In a statement released in December of 2021, Bernie Sanders wrote, “By any objective measure, Louis DeJoy, a top campaign contributor of Donald Trump, has been, by far and away, the worst postmaster general in the modern history of America.”
