Dem Super PAC Bets Their First Million on Ousting Lindsey Graham

Lindsey Graham, Republican Senator from South Carolina is facing a battle in his South Carolina Senate race. Already, Democratic groups are beginning to form in efforts to defeat Graham. One Facebook group, calling themselves “Lindsey Must Go,” says they have already raised more than one million dollars to defeat Graham.  As reported in Politico, the group will “try to expand the Senate map to include South Carolina.”

The long-term plan for the group is to raise at least four million dollars through both large and small-dollar donations. The group has made its intentions clear. They plan to focus on attacking Graham. During the first quarter of this year, Democratic opponent Harrison outraised Graham by more than 2.3 million dollars, thus proving that Harrison stands a good chance at ousting the longtime Trump supporter and some say sycophant Graham.

Stephen Groves, who worked on Beto O’Rourke’s presidential campaign and Brice Barnes, who was on the Bloomberg presidential campaign team will co-chair the PAC. Graham spokesperson T.W. Arrighi, Graham’s communications director, told POLITICO in a statement, “Try as they might, no amount of liberal out-of-state money from Hollywood celebrities, Democrat[ic] super PACs, and the Clinton political network can successfully sell socialism in South Carolina.”

According to the Politico article, An NBC News/Marist survey conducted in February before the economic and public health emergency caused by the novel coronavirus showed Graham up 17 points, 54 percent to 37 percent.
