Dem. Senate Candidate Ruben Gallego Gets Major Police Endorsement in Arizona

The Arizona Police Association announced its endorsement of Democrat Ruben Gallego on Monday, dealing a blow to Republican hopeful Kari Lake.

Ruben Gallego has been an up and comer in the Democratic party for many years and was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2015. He is now trying to win a spot in the Senate and is taking on Lake, a controversial former Gubernatorial in the state.

Back in 2022, the association backed Kari Lake in her race against Katie Hobbs. But they've changed track this time around and gave Gallego a big boost. The statement read in part, "As a Marine combat veteran, we know Congressman Gallego understands the complexities of modern policing in American society today, while at the same time recognizing the public’s expectations."

The release continued:

"The APA does not take our endorsements lightly; we recognize the importance of having a U.S. senator that can bring people together to improve society for all. We believe Congressman Gallego will be that U.S. Senator."

Gallego was pleased with the news and responded in a statement shared by the group, "I am proud to have the APA’s support and look forward to working with them in the Senate to ensure Arizona’s law enforcement officers have the resources necessary to combat fentanyl trafficking, train the next generation of officers, and, above all, keep Arizona families safe."
