Last weekend, researchers at the University of California Riverside announced that they are working on genetically modifying plants with edible versions of mRNA vaccines as a means of delivering life-saving medicine without the need for traditional shots.
“First, the team will try to successfully deliver DNA containing mRNA vaccines into plant cells, where they can replicate. Next, the study authors want to show that plants can actually produce enough mRNA to replace a traditional injection. Finally, the team will need to determine the right dosage people will need to eat to properly replace vaccinations,” News Channel 8, an NBC affiliate in Tampa, Florida, reported on Saturday.
But to right-wing conspiracy mongers like Deanna Lorraine, this innovative approach to public health signifies another authoritarian takeover of people’s private lives. On Tuesday, Lorraine appeared on The Stew Peters Show and chuckled when host Stew Peters likened plant-based vaccines to rape.
“Now what they’re trying to do is sneak the COVID vaccine in your salads, right? So, now they’re trying to grow – I can’t even believe we’re talking about this right now, I can’t believe this world we’re living in – but they’re trying to grow spinach and lettuce and other leafy greens with mRNA vaccine inside of those leaves so that you can just consume your salad and you can get your daily, your yearly, or now it’s about three times a year, COVID vaccine in your salad,” complained Lorraine.
“And I think it’s really funny because when you read these articles which you can look up, it’s trending today,” Lorraine said, referring to the News Channel 8 story, “look up this vaccines in your salad situation because they say in the article, ‘we know it’s a really hard subject, vaccines, and we know that some people have a really hard time, they’re afraid of needles, or they’re, this inconvenience of going to get your vaccine, well now we’re going to make it possible for you to just get your vaccine in your salad.’ Like that – as if that is the reason why people are hesitant to get the vaccine and don’t want the vaccine, just cause I don’t feel like going to a doctor or nurse or Walgreens. Or, because I’m afraid of needles.”
Continuing on, Lorraine reiterated that “that’s not the reason why most people do not want this BS vaccine. It’s because we don’t want it, it’s harmful, and we don’t want that in our body. Salad.”
Peters then asked, “if you, Deanna Lorraine, are sleeping, and some dude puts something in your body without your permission, what do we call that? I mean, that’s rape, right?”
Lorraine agreed, even though nobody anywhere is advocating for that.
“It’s rape, and I’ve been this saying all along that the vaccine is like rape,” she exclaimed.
“So this is vaccine rape, and now, unbenouced to me, they’re secretly tossing my salad,” Peters replied. “I mean, all of this is horrific.”
Scientists are researching the possibility of growing plants that could deliver vaccines to those who eat them. To anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists Stew Peters and DeAnna Lorraine, that sounds like "vaccine rape." pic.twitter.com/HkFAhLwhVr
