Conservative Christian ‘Humor’ Site the Babylon Bee Remains Defiant About Named Dr. Rachel Levine its Man of the Year

The Babylon Bee is a  humor site that has been operating since 2016. The website is similar to the Onion, though the fake news stories are delivered from a Conservative and Christian point of view.

The site recently made news by attacking Dr. Rachel Levine, the United States assistant secretary for health. Levine is transgender and identifies as a female. The site has been suspended from Twitter.

In a recent article, the Babylon Bee named Dr. Levine its Man of the Year. The piece reads in part, “the U.S. assistant secretary for health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he serves proudly as the first man in that position to dress like a western cultural stereotype of a woman.”

The bottom of the piece reads, “Since announcing this award, we’ve been told that Levine actually identifies as a woman. We have still chosen to give the award as his self-identification has no bearing on the truth. Congratulations, Rachel Levine!”

Despite the ban, the founder of the website, Seth Dillon, remains defiant. He wrote on his Twitter page, “We’re not deleting anything. Truth is not hate speech. If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.”
