[COMMENTARY/WATCH] Scared Matt Gaetz Whines About FBI ‘Snitches’ on NewsMax

Of course, it’s the FBI’s fault he’s being investigated, not his own. Matt “Captain Venmo” Gaetz has definitely learned from the Trump Playbook of Excuses. Chapter One: If you’re caught doing a Bad Thing, blame the people who caught you (the rest of the playbook is just the words Deflect, Deny, and Distract over and over).

Gaetz’s Trumpian tactics were on full display as usual on NewsMax, the online network that isn’t OAN. The hacks who pretend to news there are more than happy to indulge Gaetz’s whining, which is probably a relief for him to have an outlet to say all of his private things out loud on camera after the fiasco he created on Tucker Carlson’s show.

UNITED STATES – JUNE 23: Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., arrives for the House Armed Services Committee hearing titled The Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Budget Request from the Department of Defense, in Rayburn Building on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III, and General Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified. (Photo By Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Images)

Now that Gaetz’s pal in sex trafficking, Joel Greenberg, has gotten a delay on his sentencing so he can tell the FBI a whole lot more about what he and Gaetz did with the teenage girls they paid via Cash App and Venmo after “sharing” them, or what most people call “statutory rape,” Gaetz is frantically trying to use that time to plead his case. The problem is, he’s already the subject of a House investigation, and the Florida stuff is only going to incriminate him even more.

Watching the Florida Man fail is a special thrill for Twitter, which never misses a chance to rightly drag him.

But like all other Republicans on the brink of personal and professional collapse, Gaetz is still putting his fivehead out there to do the GOP song and dance. Except he keeps getting the words wrong and he doesn’t know the steps. Gaetz accused the FBI of carrying out politically motivated prosecutions at the behest of the Democratic Party, which lines up nicely with the Republican attempt to blame the FBI for “setting up” Trump supporters on January 6th.

People should get a prize for managing to sit through a Matt Gaetz interview. Hopefully, that prize looks like a perp walk really soon. Godspeed, viewers:
