[COMMENTARY] Twitter Shreds Matt Gaetz For Posting Unflattering Photo of ‘Fiance’ Without Her Consent

Late Friday night, Rep. Matt Gaetz (Q-FL) posted a picture of his fiance, Ginger Luckey, that he took of her as she was sleeping and therefore couldn’t give consent for him to use. But Gaetz is used to implied consent, so he went ahead and not only took advantage of the woman by sharing the image with the world, he reminded everyone yet again that he’s under investigation at both the federal and state level over his reported sex trafficking.

The image stunned critics of the Floridan Republican who is already under fire for allegedly paying under-aged women for sex. Employing the Trumpian tactic of pouring gasoline on a controversy when you’re not actively ignoring it, Gaetz humiliated Luckey by taking a selfie with her as she slept with her head back and her mouth wide open. He then made it even worse by adding a frat boyish and sarcastic comment: “So blessed to be with the beautiful ⁦@LuckeyGinger.”

UNITED STATES – JUNE 23: Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., arrives for the House Armed Services Committee hearing titled The Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Budget Request from the Department of Defense, in Rayburn Building on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Gaetz is enjoying his last weeks of being terrible as a free man. His former partner, Joel Greenberg, is still working with federal and local authorities in Florida, with the assumption that more information about Gaetz’s behavior will be made public. For a party that claims to abhor any violence against children, they’re not very good at holding their own accountable.

That’s where Twitter comes in.

Not that he’ll ever reply, but plenty of Twitter users were still dragging Gaetz well into Saturday afternoon over the tweet, which he still hasn’t deleted. Poor Unlucky Ginger.
