[COMMENTARY] Trumpers Troll Harris For Chadwick Boseman Tributes

When Chadwick Boseman sent out a tweet in support of Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris on August 11th, fans could never have known it would be his last. Boseman, only 43, had secretly been battling colon cancer since 2016, scheduling his surgeries and treatments even as he was filming his now-legendary role as T’Challa in Black Panther, among other standout performances. Tributes poured in from all over the world via social media in collective heartbreak over the tragic loss of such an inspiring talent who had given people of color a superhero universe to call their own.

Harris sent out her own condolences via her Twitter account Friday night when the devastating news broke, highlighting her shared history with the actor. Both graduated from legendary HBCU Howard University, and she hailed Boseman as a fellow Bison in a series of tweets Saturday morning.

“From his groundbreaking work in Black Panther to his portrayal of Thurgood Marshall, Chadwick Boseman helped paint a new picture of what’s possible,” Senator Harris tweeted. “Keeping his family, friends, and fans in my prayers during this difficult time.”

The images and messages were also shared on the Senator’s Instagram account, and that’s where the Trumpers and bots descended after a commenter wrote “Thank you, Madam Vice President!” in response to Harris’s loving tribute.

“So you mean jail more blacks and continue her record of most executions as a DA in California history?” responded one user.

“TRUMP 2020!” crowed another post by “liberals4trump2020”. “I may have been a lifelong Democrat but I am a true patriot. I choose America not Biden, the radical left must be stopped. I put my country over party. #Trump2020 #FreedomOverTyranny #WalkAway #CountryOverParty”

Harris did not respond to any of the trolling comments.
