[COMMENTARY] The “Trump Presidential Library” Is On Hold, Shocking Absolutely No One

According to a report from Bloomberg, aides close to the former guy are saying that any plans for a  presidential library are on hold for a multitude of reasons, but mainly because starting such a library would be a concession that either he won’t run for president again in 2024 or that his political career is over. The report states that the delay to announce plans for the library is tied to keeping his options open to run again which is also allowing him to continue to fundraise for a possible run.

Suuuuure it is.

Many a Twitter pundit has opined what a Trump Presidential Library would contain, with clever offerings from coloring books to “Presidenting For Dummies” to the back of a Diet Coke can. But there’s a smokescreen around the delay, which is that there’s a very legal issue preventing any groundbreaking, and for once it’s not the criming he’s done in New York and Georgia. Well, not exactly.

See, everything a President writes while in office is kept in their official Presidential Library for posterity. Even the bad stuff. Even the stuff that wasn’t made public when they wrote it. Maybe Donny Two Scoops thought his Library would just be one room holding 10,000 copies of The Art of the Deal, but that’s not how it works, according to a little thing called the Presidential Libraries Act of 1955.

In short, the Act encourages Presidents to donate their historical materials to the government and ensured the preservation of Presidential papers and their availability to the American people. It’s possible Donald knows this, and there’s just so much he doesn’t want out in the public domain (you know, kind of like his taxes), so all of a sudden the plans are “on hold”. No one from TrumpWorld ever tells the truth about anything that happens there, so literally, any excuse they give will never be the real reason.

No one was ever expecting a really and for true Trump Presidential Library, but at least it’s giving Twitter something else to drag him for until he’s finally on trial in Georgia.
