[COMMENTARY] Ted Cruz Trolls Former CIA Director And Gets Trolled In Return

Embattled GOP candidate Ted Cruz

The Party of Trump, formerly known as the GOP, can take any world crisis and dumb it down to junior high levels with one tweet. It’s never a good idea to go after someone who’s your intellectual superior by a vast margin, but Ted “I Promise I’m Not the Zodiac Killer Even Though I’m Creepy AF” Cruz never misses the opportunity to regress to his middle school years. Cruz decided to take on former CIA Director John Brennan on Friday, based on Brennan’s take regarding the very serious escalation in tensions between Iran and Israel. Brennan expressed concerns about relations between the two countries in the wake of the shooting death of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the most senior Iranian nuclear scientist. Israel does not comment on such situations, but it is widely assumed they’re responsible.

Brennan tweeted that “This was a criminal act & highly reckless. It risks lethal retaliation & a new round of regional conflict. Iranian leaders would be wise to wait for the return of responsible American leadership on the global stage & to resist the urge to respond against perceived culprits.”

Republicans just might be helping their Dear Leader wag a great big dog here, or they might actually be enabling him to start a war with Iran with just seven weeks to go before he leaves office. Either way, Cruz was quick to jump on the comments like the good little Trump lackey he is, tweeting his criticism of Brennan while also completely misquoting him.

Brennan was quick to respond to Cruz’s tweet, besting him immediately and giving his future 2022 Senate opponent an excellent quote to use to add extra shade.

Of course, Twitter welcomes any and every opportunity to go after Cruz, who still seems to be fine with the fact that Trump has never apologized for calling his wife or dog or accusing Cruz’s father of assassinating President John F. Kennedy.
