[COMMENTARY] Right-Wing Norwegian Nominates Trump for Nobel

Donald Trump wants to destroy everything Barack Obama ever did while winning the very same award Obama received for doing the things he did. And thanks to a Norwegian Nazi, Trump is a little closer to achieving his dream…or is he?

There are several issues connected to Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination. His nominator, Christian Tybring-Gjedde, is a member of the Norwegian Parliament for the far-right Progress Party and said Trump should be considered because of his work “for a peace agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel which opens up for possible peace in the Middle East.”

While any national lawmaker can nominate someone for the Nobel Peace Prize, all nominations must be sent to the Norwegian Nobel Committee by February 1. Therefore, Trump cannot actually be considered for the next Nobel Peace Prize. And despite considering DHS just announced that white supremacists are a persistent and lethal threat to the United States, apparently it’s fine to have one nominate Trump for a Nobel.

But any distraction is a good distraction for Team Trump, and the controversy certainly didn’t stop Trump from retweeting news stories about his nomination at least seventeen times on Wednesday. Twitter went appropriately nuts over this newest fabrication from the latest round of scandals connected to the Trump Administration just over the last week.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee doesn’t publicly comment on nominees. Under its rules, the information is required to be kept secret for 50 years. It might take that long for Twitter to get over this non-nomination, especially when the nominee can’t stop criming or deliberately ignoring a deadly pandemic.

Remember how she warned us about all of the things?

You can’t say you did Nazi see this coming.

And that sound you hear is irony finally dying a fiery death.
