[COMMENTARY] POTUS Calls Fox’s Peter Doocy An ‘SOB’ On Hot Mic At Monday White House Event

President Joe Biden called Fox News White House reporter Peter Doocy “a stupid son of a bitch” Monday on a live microphone after Doocy asked the President whether inflation was “a political liability” to him.

The slip took place during a White House press event focused on the Biden administration’s plans to combat inflation. After President Biden complained that all the press questions were about the military buildup around Ukraine, Doocy shouted, “Will you take questions about inflation? Do you think inflation is a political liability ahead of the midterms?” Thinking his microphone was turned off, President Biden responded sarcastically, “No, that’s a great asset. More inflation.” He added: “What a stupid son of a bitch.”

The President, who was raised in Delaware, has been known to slip a swear or two into his conversation, so this wasn’t out of character for the man who was famously caught telling then-President Barack Obama that passing the Affordable Care Act was “a big fucking deal” in 2010. But the overreaction from the right was predictably immediate, with the showy kind of histrionic pearl-clutching usually reserved for Telenovelas.

Doocy regularly baits both President Biden and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during press events, shouting over other reporters and trying to catch the President off guard with the same exact kind of “gotcha” questions Trump always accused the press of asking him (you know, those tough zingers like “Why did you ask the President of Ukraine to ‘do you a favor’?” and “When will we see your taxes?”). So it was a thing of beauty to hear our guy drop his version of a Psaki Bomb, even if he didn’t know the microphone would pick it up.

It would be great if anyone at Fox News understood or cared to try to understand that, as CNBC points out, there’s very little that President Biden, or any president, can do to reverse macroeconomic trends like increased consumer demand and supply chain snarls in Asia.

#DoocyIsAStupidSonOfABitch was already starting to trend within minutes of the faux outrage, with the President getting major props for being all of us wishing we could tell Doocy the same thing and more to his bland vanilla pudding face with blank Nilla wafer eyes.
