[COMMENTARY] Madison Cawthorn Lost His Primary. Now He Wants ‘Dark MAGA’ to ‘Take Command’

Not to be all smug, but my mother taught me how to accept loss like a good sport, something I passed on to both of my now-grown sons, 23 and 19. They’re young white men in America in 2022, yet neither of them has shot anyone or committed treason or tried to tell women what to do with their own bodies, so I feel pretty secure in my parenting for those and a bajillion other reasons.

I say this because it seems to be beyond the average Republican parent to do the same. Clearly, Donald Trump’s parents neither loved him nor cared about how much of an ingrate gorilla he grew into, they were busy being absent. This seems to run rampant in the GOP. Also, everyone born after 1990 learned that losing isn’t a thing when everyone gets a participation trophy, which has created a culture of entitlement where people just can’t disappear after losing an election without crying about it forevermore.

There is such a thing as losing gracefully and maintaining your dignity, but that’s going to remain exclusive to the Democratic Party. Trump is STILL whining about the election he lost more than a year and a half ago. So it should come as no surprise that Madison “Sieg Heil, Cuz!” Cawthorn conceded his primary loss with one side of his mouth while posting a misspelled missive about yet another subset of Trump’s GOP with the other.

There are already “America First” Republicans who have also appropriated the “Ultra MAGA” moniker bestowed upon them by President Joe Biden. But now that Cawthorn’s not invited to the cocaine orgies anymore, he isn’t going away quietly. He’s kicking up a big ol white boy fuss and he wants revenge, achtung!

No, I don’t know what “gentile politics” are either, but it sounds like something lifted from a Catskills comedian circa 1966. Also, those who align with Qawthorn in his “Dark MAGA” club are going to be super busy with the January 6th House Select Committee over the next few months, so the whole “revenge” part starts to give off serious January 6th Insurrection 2.0 energy.

And then there’s that troublesome ending. “Their days are numbered. We are coming.” Sure sounds like a threat from the guy who thought it was fine to check out a Nazi concentration camp on his “honeymoon.” Since we know who Maddy’s friends are, maybe the FBI should pay attention. Because we can make all the fun we want, but the truth is Dark MAGA is a fringe online movement demanding Donald Trump take revenge on his enemies, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-GA) has posted images with the “Dark MAGA aesthetic” which looks completely ridiculous, but at least it’s not that dumb green frog again.
