[COMMENTARY] Kari Lake Is Already Threatening Her Opponent In A Race That Could Easily Turn Violent

I’m literally old enough to remember respectful political discourse. Even when diametrically opposed, political foes seemed to always know where to draw the line when it came to how they treated each other. They used their words creatively to leave a mark, but for the most part, they didn’t directly threaten each other’s lives just to win a campaign. I can reach back as far as 2012, when Barack Obama ran for re-election. Twitter existed back then, but I’m here to tell you that at no time did any of Mitt Romney’s supporters send me death threats or call me horrific slurs. There were other racists around, of course, because this is America, but it was a stress-free time where the worst thing anyone said was “But the tan suit” or whatever.

Then Donny Small Hands showed up with his stupid thumbs, and when he wasn’t oddly posing with them in the ‘up’ position, he was using them to terrorize everyone he could on social media. And here we are now in the fiery diseased sewage pit of 2022, where sitting members of Congress openly harass American citizens when they’re not busy harassing each other. So of course anyone running for office with an (R) next to their names isn’t going to be running anything remotely like an honor campaign. And that goes double if they’re one of Trump’s special candidates chosen to challenge incumbents out of perceived disloyalty.

Kari Lake, unfortunately, won her primary Tuesday night despite devoting a lot of energy to projecting her loss well before the day began. This means she’s already pulling major Trumpy moves on her Democratic opponent, Katie Hobbs.

Maybe someday we’ll see a truly honest campaign from a true Republican. You know, someone who doesn’t hang out with Nazis or denounce their former drag queen friends because the MAGA base loves them a transphobe like KKKari LaKKe, who also hates Jews and Black people just like they do. Someone who doesn’t use violence or threats. The FEC should really have some stricter guidelines. Also, Kari hates the truth. It’s against Twitter rules for politicians to block us, but Kari is bad at being a good person.

I’m pulling for Katie Hobbs with all my heart. But since Arizona is basically now just Florida without coastlines, I’m a little concerned. Still, there’s a part of me that hopes there are enough sensible people there that they won’t elect a hateful Nazi to be their Governor. 🤞
