[COMMENTARY] Kamala Harris Challenges Donald Trump to Keep September Debate Date

You could almost smell the relief wafting from JD "Hillbilly Effigy" Vance on Sunday when President Joe Biden announced he was stepping aside and passing the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris.

The historically unpopular Vance dodged even further embarrassment by not having to debate the same woman who bodied Mike Pence so badly in their 2020 debate, a fly tried to airlift him to safety.

Vance may be able to kick back and relax on his couch, but his running mate, a convicted felon, will have to step up and face the former prosecutor/DA/AG and current VP in a debate previously scheduled for September 10th.

That debate was meant to be a second round for Joe Biden and Donald Trump, but you know how that first one went, and you also know Joe Biden is no longer running for President. But that Sept. 10th debate date is still on the calendar, and Trump's campaign had already agreed to it.

But that was before, you know, the Black lady was the presumptive nominee.

Trump has demanded that Fox News host a debate, and has said he'd be willing to debate VP Harris "more than once," but also Trump is a liar squeezing out any last drops of bravado he might have left.

Trump is also scheduled to be sentenced in New York by Judge Juan Merchan on September 18th on 34 felony convictions, so that's going to be a rough week for MAGA.

It's not tough to understand why Trump wouldn't want to show up. VP Harris would essentially be prosecuting him for all the world to see, and she wouldn't let him lie his way out of it.

This is a no-win situation for Trump, and his people know it. If he doesn't show, the Harris campaign will gleefully mock him as a coward. If he does, Kamala Harris will show the world who he really is.

The Vice President says she's ready to go and that Trump is "backpedaling" from his initial commitment to debate. “I think the voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in this race on the debate stage,” she said after landing at Joint Base Andrews following a campaign kickoff trip to Indiana and Texas.
