[COMMENTARY] Jan 6th House Select Committee May Resort to Compelling Pence to Testify

Mike Pence holds Trump rally, a full months after the election.

How do you solve a problem like Mike Pence?

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection is still debating whether they want to compel former Vice President Mike Pence to appear as they have indicated that they want to query him about more than the events of that day. I don’t know about you, but if I found out one of my co-workers tried to have a whole bunch of people string me up behind the place where we work, I’d be more than ready to testify against them. But I’m also not scared of Donald Trump knowing something about me that he might tell the world, so I don’t know how anyone gets through to Mike Pence if Mother can’t.

It’s apparently not enough to remind the former Vice President that Trump’s crowd constructed gallows on the Capitol lawn on January 6th with the intention of hanging him. And we know this because there’s plenty of footage of the crowd inside the Capitol chanting “Hang Mike Pence!”

We also know someone–we don’t know their identity just yet–disabled the ID cards of everyone on Pence’s staff which had been working fine when they arrived to work on January 6th, but stopped working at some point between getting their first coffee and the moment Pence was hurried out of the Senate chamber as the crowd breached the barriers and began marauding through the hallways of Congress. Also, panic buttons had been dismantled, ripped from their secure spots as if the rioters had somehow been tipped off to their locations.

There are thousands of hours of footage, but the GOP keeps trying to rewrite the history of both the insurrection and Trump’s role in it, and for some reason, Mike Pence is in on this too. The committee is also still looking into how to force House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Reps. Scott Perry (R-PA) and Jim Jordan (R-OH), to testify about their part in helping Trump in planning the Capitol insurrection, which will probably go the way of Steve Bannon and Mark Meadows. It’s enough to make you want to eat your own fist in frustration. THEY ARE ALL GUILTY, why can’t you just have them all arrested?

Right, Mike Pence. THIS should be your takeaway from January 6th. Not that you almost died, but that certain people shouldn’t have voting rights. Okay, I did Nazi this take coming, but at this point in this Trumpfarce, nothing would surprise me. Enjoy your subpoena, Mikey.
