[COMMENTARY] Hobby Lobby Faces Backlash For July 4th Ad Claiming Only Christians Belong in America

July 4th is a holiday to celebrate the literal birth of our nation, but some people have to go and ruin the party by making it all about just SOME Americans instead of all of us. Interestingly, it’s always people who claim to be religious (subtext: almost always Christians) who make the unilateral decisions as to who belongs and who doesn’t. Strangely, they’ve made the arbitrary choice to only care about people who think and look exactly like they do, and therefore they believe the whole country should think the way they do.
But hey, it’s not a cult or anything.

Your writer is a lapsed Jew, an atheist agnostic who firmly believes in scientific facts and proof over blind faith in an unproven unseen invisible Sky Daddy. The Bible didn’t fall out of the sky. Verbal myths that had been passed down through generous of men finally got out there thanks to the printing press, and BOOM! The Church of England could control the poor and starving in the gutters with the fear of God. Yay! Plus all of those wars where all of those people fought over who loves their version of Sky Daddy the most and best, which makes SO MUCH SENSE, right? More human beings have died in the name of religion than in all of the wars and diseases in history combined, but please tell me more about how Jesus loves me, mmmkay? Brb, my eyes need to refocus after being rolled so hard.

The constant hypocrisy of the Religious Right could keep me here for days, but for now, let’s just focus on the July 4th mishegoss from the Uptight Whites at Hobby Lobby, which is like if Meghan McCain could become a chain of craft stores specializing in tacky wreaths.
Hobby lobby took out a full page ad in the Register-Guard this morning. Talking about how America should only be led by Christians. Absolutely frightening. Please remember that Michaels, Joanns & your local craft/hobby shops are always an excellent place to spend your money.

A Christian-owned chain, Hobby Lobby has been crafting hateful newspaper ads every July 4th since 2008, not that anyone asked them. Pretty weird how they’ll bend the Constitution and the Bible to their will and cherry-pick the parts that work for them while ignoring the core truths and values, but hey, that’s how hypocrisy works. Super convenient to overlook that “separation of Church and State” thing in the Constitution, because you can do the GOD WILL SMITE YOU IFFEN YOU DON’T GROUPTHINK WITH US and sleep at night while your head still remains firmly in the sand.
Did you need any of this in your life? Of course you didn’t. Even people who identify as believers don’t need this. It’s the opposite of what Sky Daddy allegedly wants. Do unto others, and such, right? Or is that not a part you pay attention to because you don’t like it, Trumpocrites?

Twitter was happily dragging Hobby Lobby on July 4th, letting them know exactly what they can do with their tacky wreaths and super glue. Side note to craft competitors like Michael’s and Jo-Ann’s: getting ready for a nice little boost in business as “#BoycottHobbyLobby” will have people coming in to buy supplies for making protest signs.
Hobby lobby seems to have forgotten about the concept of the separation of church and state. pic.twitter.com/HsNY7MA7Ko

Hobby Lobby's full page ad says that America is ๐๐ฏ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐๐ฐ๐ฅ**
**offer not valid for the gays, Black people, disabled folks, brown people, Jews, AAPI community, transgender people, "The Radical Left," women in general, Muslims and Hunter Biden's laptop.

Oh crap, it seems Hobby Lobby has placed front page ads multiple times & during its MAGA crazed years. My previous statement is wrong.
"On July 4 2017, many newspapers across the country ran a full-page ad placed by the Hobby Lobby corp. Headlined โGod Bless America."

Every July 4, Hobby Lobby, gutted Obamacareโs contraceptive mandate, runs full-page ad in newspapers across country In God they trust. The ad shamelessly tries to sell myth that the US is founded on Christian god using quotes deliberately pulled out of context https://t.co/UchAaFevsm
