What a strange way for a bunch of innocent and transparent people to behave, huh? The biggest domestic terrorist attack on American soil was carried out by supporters and enablers of Donald Trump on January 6th, and (so not at all) surprisingly, those very same people now are voting against a commission to investigate how it all happened. These so-called patriots who salivated over the 9/11 Commission and called for war against the wrong country in retaliation are now burying their heads even more deeply in the sand trap that is the former guy.
How does anyone look at footage of what happened on January 6th and see anything but a terrifying attack on our democracy from within? I suppose if you’re any of the alleged co-conspirators somehow still sitting in Congress, you see a failed coup attempt and you’re biting your nails down to the quick hoping your role will somehow go unnoticed (haha, the FBI already has your cell phone data and you know it, so save the B.S. posturing for those who are still happy to help you shovel it, Trumpocrites).
Call me cynical, but trying to block an investigation when Merrick Garland can just appoint a Special Counsel seems like drawing the wrong kind of attention to yourselves. But when you’re still taking all of your political cues from literally the worst possible person, none of your decisions are going to make any sense.
A Brief Chronology of the Jan. 6 commission:
18 May, 1500 EDT: McConnell says he is "undecided" about Jan. 6 commission.
18 May, 2100 EDT: Trump tells Republicans to oppose the Jan. 6 commission.
19 May, 1100 EDT: McConnell announces he is opposed to the Jan. 6 commission.

Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn’t want a January 6th Commission because he’s still taking orders from someone who’s officially under criminal investigation in New York. Steve Scalise sent out a letter yesterday urging his colleagues to vote against the commission. Still under Trump’s tiny thumb, they’re just carrying out orders even as he faces months, if not years, of sitting in courtrooms.

These people are complicit in that day’s events. They must be, because why else would they block an investigation and try to rewrite the history of the most traumatic live event we’ve witnessed in this country since September 11th?

There must be a full investigation into the January 6th insurrection. Americans are demanding answers and accountability as we’ve learned more about the help the rioters received from inside agitators. It’s time for all of them to pay the price for what they tried to do to our democracy.
You cant have a bipartisan #January6thCommission when 99% of one side still backs The Big Lie.
Having traitors like Kevin McCarthy investigating their own crimes makes zero sense.
