[COMMENTARY] DemCast Launches “Focus 14” Initiative to Get Out the Vote
DemCast’s mission is to cultivate, amplify & maximize the impact of grassroots digital media, bolstering blue electoral and policy victories at all levels of government, across America. Focus 14 stresses the importance of flipping seats in the Senate to become the majority, while also holding vital Blue seats in the House.
As indicated by the map, the states DemCast is focusing on are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas & Wisconsin. Their plan is to create digital teams for each state to mobilize voters, and they hope to amass at least 20,000 volunteers to help execute their plan. Celebrities such as Kristen Johnson and Debra Messing are already on board.
Trump can’t win if we pour all our efforts into swing state turnout!
That’s why I am joining the #DemCast team’s #Focus14 program and adopting the great state of Michigan through November! #DemCastMI
Please RT & join me! This is how we win.https://t.co/nR9H3jmv9v

With less than 100 days to go until the election, Focus 14 is intentionally adopting a “whole state” strategy. “There are idiosyncrasies to each state,” according to the site: voter registration requirements, ballot deadlines, social & economic issues, voter suppression tactics, gerrymandering, etc. “Asking out-of-state activists to commit to digital and virtual activism in a single state makes sense – they can gain expertise in the issues and grassroots organizations within a single state.” Volunteers will also be encouraged to help out in states where they may not actually reside, but where Dems might be struggling in the polls.
