College Republicans at Arizona State Raising Money for Kyle Ritthenhouse’s Defense

Kyle Rittenhouse, who is charged with murdering two people in Wisconsin earlier this week, broke a number of additional laws. The teen was breaking the curfew law put in place by the city of Kenosha. He was also in possession of a firearm and ammunition that he was too young to legally purchase.

Still, Rittenhouse has become a bit of a self-defense celebrity in Conservative circles. Laura Ingraham went as far as saying that she’d like him to be President. The teen is currently has a public defender serving as his lawyer, but some would like to see that change. The College Republicans at Arizona State University are raising funds for his defense.

The group tweeted, “Half of all funds collected this semester for Republicans United will be donated to 17 year old Kyle Rittenhouse legal defense fund. He does not deserve to have his entire life destroyed because of the actions of violent anarchists during a lawless riot.”

The tweet linked to a website that smeared the victims, claiming that each of them had criminal records. The site also reads, “We do not condone the death of these individuals but take note that these are not model citizens.  Kyle Rittenhouse does not deserve to have his entire life destroyed because of the actions of violent anarchists during a lawless riot. ”

When reporters attempted to contact the student group for a comment on the Rittenhouse fundraiser, they told reporters to “get a real job.”
