Clueless Cruz Congratulates Recent Capitol Police Academy Graduates

Ted Cruz, who helped Donald Trump incite the Capitol insurrection, issued a tweet congratulating recent graduates who will soon join the force.

WASHINGTON, DC – APRIL 22: Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) holds a news conference to voice his opposition to adding justices to the U.S. Supreme Court outside the court’s building on April 22, 2021 in Washington, DC. The White House has formed a commission to study possible changes to the Supreme Court, including adding seats or instituting term limits. “The road to anarchy is being paved by this agenda,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said during the news conference and warned that changing the makeup of the court or doing away with the filibuster will “destroy this country.” (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Donald Trump’s attempts to delegitimize the 2020 election received a big boost in January of this year when Ted Cruz joined the fight. Cruz gave a speech about the results in the lead-up to the January insurrection on the Capitol.

During that insurrection, 140 police officers were injured as they did battle with Trump supporters. One would think that Cruz would want to avoid mentioning anything about Capitol cops for a while. But on Friday night, he sent out a clueless tweet.

“Congratulations to all of the new Capitol Police officer graduates,” the Texas lawmaker wrote. “I look forward to seeing you all around the Capitol. I can’t thank you and your families enough for your service.”

Of course, Cruz has never been one to show good judgement. Earlier this year, the senator took off to Cancun with his family while Texas was experiencing a weather disaster. This recent problem is just another example of Cruz being one of the most clueless lawmakers in the country.
