Citing Nonexistent Fraud, Donald Trump Asks for Election Audit in Texas

Former President Donald Trump sent an open letter to Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott on Thursday demanding that he support House Bill 16 – which would enable political operatives to request audits into the results of the 2020 election and future contests – even though he defeated President Joe Biden in the Lone Star State by nearly six points.

This latest gambit is a troubling sign that the 75-year-old ex-steak salesman’s insatiable obsession with nonexistent voter fraud has gone totally off the rails.

“Despite my big win in Texas, I hear Texans want an election audit! You know your fellow Texans have big questions about the November 2020 Election,” wrote Trump.

“Texas needs you to act now. Your Third Special Session is the perfect, and maybe last, opportunity to pass this audit bill. Time is running out. Paper ballots in your state are only kept for 22 months. Your citizens don’t trust the election system, and they want your leadership on this issue, which is the number one thing they care about. It is their most important issue – one that will affect 2022 and 2024,” Individual 1 continued, without offering a survey or poll to validate his claims.

“Governor Abbott, we need a ‘Forensic Audit of the 2020 Election’ added to the call,” Trump added. “We’re quickly running out of time and it must be done this week. Texans know voter fraud occurred in some of their counties. Let’s get to the bottom of the 2020 Presidential Election Scam!”
