Cindy McCain Stars in New Biden TV Ad
Cindy McCain is all in for Joe Biden. The widow of Arizona Sen. John McCain narrated a video for the Democratic National Convention, endorsed the former vice president and campaigned with him this past week in Arizona. Now she’s recorded a TV ad for him.
“Like John Did” is a one-minute spot in which she reflects on her late husband’s close, decades-long friendship with Biden. “In the senate they disagreed on almost everything. They fought like hell on the floor and then they’d go eat lunch together because they always put their friendship and their country first.”
She also draws a sharp contrast in character between Biden and Donald Trump. “Now more than ever, we need a president who will put service before self, a president who will lead with courage and compassion — not ego — respect the sacrifices made by our service members and their families, a president who’ll honor our fallen heroes and a president who will bring out the best in us, not the worst,” Cindy McCain said.
Democrats believe McCain’s home state, which hasn’t voted for a Democrat for president since 1996, is winnable this year. The Democratic nominee leads Trump 49 percent to 41 percent in the latest New York Times-Siena College poll.
The Biden campaign said the spot will begin running statewide in Arizona on Saturday. And, in a move that surely will get Trump’s attention, it will air nationally on Fox News on Sunday and during some NFL games later that day.
