Christopher Krebs Stands Up to Trump Lawyer Death Threat

Just when you thought Rudy Giuliani or Sidney Powell were the two craziest, most dangerous lawyers representing Donald Trump here comes Joseph diGenova.

In an appearance Monday evening on “The Howie Carr Show” on Newsmax, the former United States Attorney for the District of Columbia called for the execution of Christopher Krebs, the former director of the Cybersecurity Infrastructure & Security Agency who Trump fired for saying the presidential election was secure.

“Anybody who thinks the election went well, like that idiot Krebs who used to be the head of cybersecurity. That guy is a class A moron. He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot,” diGenova said.

diGenova has appeared with Trump’s legal team at news conferences in recent days as it continues to push baseless conspiracy theories about the presidential election. His comments about Krebs represent a dangerous ratcheting up of the rhetoric being spewed by Trump and his supporters in their desperate attempt to give him a second term in the White House.

Krebs, appearing on the “Today” show Tuesday morning, had this reaction to diGenova’s threat: “It’s certainly more dangerous language, more dangerous behavior. The way I look at it is that we are a nation of laws and I plan to take advantage of those laws. I’ve got an exceptional team of lawyers that win in court and I think they’re going to be busy.”

“I’m not going to give them the benefit of knowing how I’m reacting to this,” he added. “They can know that there are things coming, though.”

Making death threats against Krebs for his work as a government official is a crime, yet neither Trump or any member of the Republican party has yet to denounce diGenova’s comments or call for his prosecution.

diGenova becomes the latest of those in Trump’s orbit to call for violence against the president’s perceived political enemies. Former presidential adviser Steve Bannon recently called for the beheading of FBI Director Christopher Wray and infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci. “I’d actually like to go back to the old times of Tudor England,” Bannon said. “I’d put the heads on pikes, right – I’d put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats. You either get with the program or you are gone.”
