When the news hit this week that father and son Gregory and Travis McMichael had been charged with the murder of an unarmed black jogger, Ahmaud Arbery. The group formerly known as “Christians Against Google” is now calling itself “Justice for Gregory and Travis McMichael.” The group is defending the pair by claiming that they were just “trying to protect their neighborhood.” The about section for the group says “These 2 God-fearing men were only trying to protect their neighborhood.” It goes on to read “This area has had a string of break-ins and this man fit the description and did not comply with simple commands. Our hearts go out to the McMichael family in their time of need. Amen.” When last checked the group has around 104,000 members.

The McMichael’s killed Arbery after chasing him down in a pickup truck. After stopping the victim on a residential road, Travis McMichael, left the truck and a struggle between him and Arbery ensued ending in the death of Arbery. Recently a video of the killing surfaced on the internet. The video is disturbing and led to outrage over the father and son duo not being arrested at the scene. The two accused killers were denied bond and will remain in jail until their trial.
