Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) has been indicted on insider trading charges that were filed by the Justice Department.
Also charged is Collins’s son, Cameron Collins, and the father of Cameron’s fiancee, Stephen Zarsky.
According to the DOJ indictment, the charges are related to “securities of Innate Immunotherapeutics … an Australian biotechnology company on whose board of directors Christopher Collins served.”
The defendants have been indicted on multiple counts of securities fraud, and one count of wire fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and one count each of making false statements.
Chris Collins is a three-term Republican incumbent who represents New York’s 27th Congressional District. Collins is up for re-election in November.
His political opponent was considered a long-shot before his arrest was announced.
All three men surrounded to authorities in Manhattan on Wednesday morning.
