Cary Elwes, The Star of Ted Cruz’ Favorite Movie, Brutally Roasts the Texas Senator

Ted Cruz is a major fan of pop culture. He frequently makes references to movies and TV shows on his Twitter page. Unfortunately, for the Texas senator doesn’t love him back.

Earlier this week, Cruz compared environmentalists to villains from comic book movies. He was summarily blasted by a number of Hollywood figures. The most savage burn, however, might have come from Cary Elwes, the star of Cruz’s favorite movie, The Princess Bride.

Elwes responded to Cruz’s Marvel comments, writing, “How does it feel to know that not only the entire cast and crew of your favorite movie The Princess Bride, but almost the whole entertainment industry, have nothing but rabid contempt for you? #inconceivable? I think not, you miserable ROUS.”

The Texas senator responded to the tweet by posting a picture Elwes had autographed for him and asking if he wanted it back.

“Nah,” responded the actor. “You can keep it as a reminder of how tragic it is that you had to have someone forge your name. Which makes sense since you are a forgery.”
