Candace Owens Proposes “Unvaxxed Pride” With Parades, Flags, And Superman

The far-right in the United States wants nothing more than to claim oppression in order to benefit from the same “extra” rights they seem to believe marginalized groups are fighting for (when those groups fight for the same rights and protections everyone else has). In her Saturday night rant, Candace Owens exemplified that, describing an imaginary world in which antivaxxers need parades, events, and awareness similar to the Pride events the LGBTQ+ community relies on.

In a tweeted rant, Owens suggested that antivaxxers, like the LGBTQ+ community, need Pride parades, a flag and efforts for awareness and support. Like the LGBTQ community, Candace suggests, antivaxxers suffer marginalization and exclusion. She does not address that, unlike the LGBTQ community, being antivax is a conscious choice (if typically one informed by propaganda and disinformation), and that unlike the LGBTQ community, being antivax can be detrimental to others, and specifically increases the risk of further variants of the virus.
Should Superman come out as unvaxxed?

Owens even suggests that Superman should come out as antivax next — presumably a reference to the news released a few days ago, as reported by the New York Times, that Superman has a same-sex relationship in a new issue of the DC comic. It’s one more attempt, in a tweet-length rant, to co-opt marginalization that other groups are actually suffering in the real world.
In another tweet, Owens — who has decried what she calls “cancel culture” and others call “consequences for actions” — announced that she will be boycotting airlines that require vaccination for their employees.
Flying @delta exclusively now because they don’t force-vax their employees.

Using charged language such as “force-vax,” Owens suggests that being unvaccinated in the middle of a pandemic is a basic human right.
