Every night, the hosts on Fox News decry the scourge of cancel culture. In most cases, the cancelling is just a person facing the consequences for their actions. And, of course, the Fox personalities only care if it is a right leaning person who is being punished.
Donald Trump frequently whines about cancel culture too. And like the hosts on Fox, he is quite hypocritical about it. During a Monday night speech at the RNCC, the former president called for a boycott of all companies that don’t support Conservative principles.
Trump told the assembled:
“We need nationwide boycotts of companies that don’t believe in Republican and conservative principles. We’re not going to buy their product if they’re not going to buy our policy, if they’re not going to respect us… Watch how quickly these companies will change if we do this, and we’re going to boycott the media that doesn’t treat us fairly.”
This isn’t the first time the former president has called for boycotts on American companies. He wanted people to stop buying Harley Davidson motorcycles after the company considered moving overseas thanks to Trump policies. And he said of Goodyear in 2020, “Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES – They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less!” Trump wrote on Twitter. “(This is what the Radical Left Democrats do. Two can play the same game, and we have to start playing it now!).”
