California Republican gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner sparred with ABC’s The View host Joy Behar on Thursday over who won the 2020 election. Jenner, who hopes to defeat incumbent Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom in 2022, said that she wants to follow in former President Donald Trump’s footsteps as a “disrupter” of politics as usual.
“I want to ask you something before we go because we’re out of time. Something that’s important for me to know. You say that you’re a Republican, and I’m just wondering because a lot of Republicans in this country believe that Donald Trump won the election and not Joe Biden. Are you one of those people, one of those Republicans?” Behar asked.
I’m not going to get into that because that election is over with. I think Donald Trump did do some good things and what I liked about Donald Trump is that he was a disrupter,” Jenner said.
“But did he win? Did he win the election?” Behar interjected.
Jenner refused to acknowledge that President Joe Biden soundly defeated Trump in a landslide last November, opting instead to deliver a campaign pitch.
“But he was a disrupter when he was president. I want to do the same thing. I want to go in and be a thoughtful disrupter in Sacramento,” Jenner said. “We need to change the system. I want to change that system for the positive. I’m in it for the people and not for the special interests.”
At that point, host Whoopi Goldberg ended the conversation and cut to commercial.
