CA Official Suggests Old And Vulnerable Die To ‘Open Economy’ And ‘Free Up Housing’

The deadly outbreak of COVID-19 across America has presented us with two wildly divergent human responses. One on the side, you have doctors and nurses risking their lives to help sick patients, and Americans making homemade PPE as they binge-watch The Office for the gazillionth time during the lockdown. And then you have your typical soulless, greedy and anti-science Republicans on the other side coddling big business while crapping on everyone else.

Raw Story’s Sky Palma reported on a since-removed Facebook post from California public official and Antioch commission Chairman Ken Turnage II in which he followed the book of Republican Jesus by calling on all older, weaker, and homeless Americans to sacrifice themselves for Coronavirus so the economy can reopen.

“We would have significant loss of life, we would lose many elderly, that would reduce burdens in our defunct Social Security System, health care cost (once the wave subsided), make jobs available for others and it would also free up housing in which we are in dire need of,” Turnage wrote in the deleted Facebook post. “We would lose a large portion of the people with immune and other health complications. I know it would be loved ones as well. But that would once again reduce our impact on medical, jobs, and housing.”

Via the East Bay Times:

“Except we are not trees, and dead human beings do not fertilize the living,” one person commented on Turnage’s Facebook post. “This is very callous and sad. Even still, I hope you and yours survive this, just as I hope we all do.”

“This was a favored position of the Nazis,” another wrote. “Getting rid of the ‘useless eaters’ they called it. Before the Nazis went after the Jews and Gypsies and the Polish they decided it would be a good idea to get rid of the useless eaters: the old, demented, disabled, mentally ill, physically ill, and institutionalized.”

Hilariously enough, Turnage said that his comments were not meant to be interpreted as “racist” and had “nothing to do with business or money.” In other words, he got busted and is diffing deep into his sack of excuses to find any semblance of justification.
