[BREAKING] Vance Zeroes In On Trump Org CFO

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr, has been in possession of Donald Trump’s tax returns for barely ten days, but he’s already narrowing his investigation into Trump’s many financial crimes. Late-breaking news on Monday indicated that Vance is specifically focusing on the Trump Organization’s Chief Financial Officer, Allen Weisselberg.

The increased focus on the executive Weisselberg could step up pressure on him to cooperate with the investigation if the prosecutors unearth evidence of wrongdoing on his part. He has served as the Trump Organization’s financial gatekeeper for more than two decades and could be a vital source of information for the government about the inner workings of the company.

Trump’s former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, often pointed to Weisselberg as someone who would have firsthand knowledge to confirm his accusations of Trump’s propensity to inflate and deflate his property values, among his other shortcuts and tax avoidances. The investigation may also include Weisselberg’s family as well.

Barry Weisselberg has been the property manager of Trump Wollman Rink in Central Park, and Jack Weisselberg works at Ladder Capital, one of Trump’s biggest lenders. Vance’s office has not accused formally accused Weisselberg or his sons of any wrongdoing, and there is currently no indication that the sons are a focus of the investigation.

If Weisselberg were to fully cooperate with Vance and his staff, it could be more damaging than any other testimony against Trump has been. Weisselberg began his career working as an accountant for Trump’s father, Fred Trump, and has overseen the Trump Organization’s books for decades. He recently ran the business with Trump’s adult sons during the administration and remained loyal to the company even after his name surfaced during congressional and federal investigations into Trump and his businesses.
