[BREAKING] Sidney Powell Moves to Dismiss Lawsuit “No Reasonable Person” Would Believe

Former Trump campaign attorney Sidney Powell asked a judge to dismiss a defamation suit filed against her by Dominion Voting Systems Inc., the election software company she accused of hatching a vast conspiracy to steal the election for Democrats. In her request filed Monday in Washington, Powell argues the court doesn’t have jurisdiction because Dominion failed to properly tie her allegedly defamatory statements to the city. She asked the judge to consider transferring the case to Texas, where she lives, if her motion to dismiss the case is denied.

Powell described Dominion’s $1.3 billion lawsuit as a “sprawling and impermissibly incoherent complaint” that was part of a “well-orchestrated public relations campaign to save their business.”

Powell has repeatedly lost appeals to overturn the election, despite her promise to “release the Kraken” to keep Trump in office. However, Powell’s lies won’t hold up in any court on the planet, so the most newsworthy part of all of this is that she acknowledged it.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Supreme Court denied requests to review Powell’s post-election cases in Arizona and Wisconsin, the last of her cases to be rejected by the high court even as she still continued to push conspiracy theories about election fraud. The cases had already been rejected by the lower courts, where a district court judge in Arizona said the case was “sorely wanting of relevant or reliable evidence” and a judge in Wisconsin said Powell’s requests for relief were beyond the court’s powers to address “absent the mythical time machine.”

Knowingly bringing a fraudulent lawsuit to trial is grounds for disbarment, a consequence all of Trump’s legal counsel should be facing for their part in continuing to push the Big Lie. There were certainly plenty of calls on Twitter (where Powell has been suspended) for it in the wake of the violent events on January 6th.
