President Trump just tweeted that U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke will be leaving his Administration at the end of this year. The resignation comes as a surprise to many.
Zinke assumed office on March 1, 2017, and became the 52nd Secretary of the Interior for the United States. He has previously been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives as well as a member of the Montana State Senate. The 57-year old Zinke has yet to speak on this matter.
The announcement was made via Trump’s Twitter feed, in a series of tweets Saturday morning:
“Secretary of the Interior @RyanZinke will be leaving the Administration at the end of the year after having served for a period of almost two years,” Trump tweeted. “Ryan has accomplished much during his tenure and I want to thank him for his service to our Nation. The Trump Administration will be announcing the new Secretary of the Interior next week.”
It is still unknown who Trump will announce as Zinke’s replacement.
