[BREAKING] January 6th Committee Subpoenas Pat Cipollone

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) had sternly invoked Pat Cipollone’s name during her closing comments at the fifth January 6th House Select Committee hearing, asking him to voluntarily come forward to testify to share what he knew about the plot to overthrow the 2020 Presidential elections. And despite his name being used repeatedly in Cassidy Hutchinson’s bombshell testimony on Tuesday, including the chilling warning “We’re all going to get indicted for every crime there is,” he still remained silent on his own efforts to prevent Trump’s plan from succeeding.

Now, the House Select Committee has issued a subpoena to compel testimony from Cipollone, Donald Trump’s former White House counsel and one of the key players who had eluded the panel’s many requests for interviews.

The January 6th Committee released a copy of their letter to Cipollone, which sets a date of July 6th to take his deposition.

“The Select Committee’s investigation has revealed evidence that Mr. Cipollone repeatedly raised legal and other concerns about President Trump’s activities on January 6th and in the days that preceded,” Reps. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Rep. Cheney, the committee’s chair and vice-chair, said in a statement.

The panel is seeking sworn testimony from Cipollone, “as other former White House counsels have done in other congressional investigations,” according to the statement. “Any concerns Mr. Cipollone has about the institutional prerogatives of the office he previously held are clearly outweighed by the need for his testimony,” said Reps. Thompson and Cheney.
