[BREAKING] Israel and Hamas Agree to Cease Fire in Gaza

Per Israeli and Egyptian news reports, the Israeli security cabinet voted to accept a ceasefire late Thursday as Gaza still smolders from recent airstrikes.

Sources from the cabinet meeting said that the IDF will cease the airstrikes on Gaza immediately. However, in the case Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel, the IDF will return to full operational activities in the Gaza Strip and the ceasefire will be canceled immediately. Israel’s firepower far outweighs that of Palestine’s.

News of the de-escalation comes at a time where the world has been calling for peace in the Middle East. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the decision after heavy U.S. pressure to halt the offensive. President Joe Biden spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi about ceasefire efforts as well.

Top international envoys had worked feverishly to end the war while Israel’s security cabinet debated the details of the restoration of calm in a late-night meeting. Israeli media reported that Israel was accepting the truce on the principle of “quiet would be met by quiet.”
