[BREAKING] Florida Man Sentenced to 8 Months For Role in Jan 6th Insurrection
A Florida man who was seen carrying a large red “Trump 2020” flag on the floor of the U.S. Senate during the Capitol riot received eight months in prison Monday in the first felony sentence from the January 6th attack on Congress.
Paul Allard Hodgkins of Tampa was arrested on February 16th after the FBI received a tip identifying him among the hundreds of people seen in photos and videos inside the Capitol. He pleaded guilty in June to a single felony count of obstructing an official proceeding, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
“Although you were only one member of a larger mob, you actively participated in a larger event that threatened the Capitol and democracy itself,” said U.S. District Court Judge Randolph Moss of Washington.
Hodgkins is the third person to be sentenced for being part of the Capitol siege, and his is the longest punishment imposed so far. An Indiana woman, Anna Morgan-Lloyd, was given three years of probation in June after pleading guilty to a charge of illegally demonstrating in the Capitol. And Michael Curzio of Florida was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to the same charge. But because the judge gave him credit for the time that he was detained pending trial, he was released on July 14th.

Hodgkins told the judge that he regrets his actions and would not have entered the Capitol if he had known of the violent acts committed inside. “I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I am truly remorseful and regretful for my actions, not because I face consequences but because of the damage that day’s incident caused and the way this country that I love has been hurt,” he said.
Prosecutors asked for a sentence of 18 months in prison. Once he got inside and saw the mayhem, he could have left, said Mona Sedky, an assistant U.S. attorney. “He willingly joined the fray, and he steadfastly remained a part of it.” Sedky said Hodgkins’ goal in entering the Capitol “was to disturb the election process and disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.”

Imposing a punishment that includes some prison time “will send a loud and clear message to other would-be rioters that if and when they’re caught, they will face a serious sentence. So there won’t be a next time,” she said.
ONLY 8 MONTHS
This is slap in the face to America.
USA destroyed countries for far less in recent history.
