[BREAKING] FBI, DOJ Announce Felony Charges of Sedition and Treason
The FBI and the Department of Justice held a joint press conference Tuesday afternoon to announce arrests and charges connected to last Wednesday’s insurrection inside the Capitol Building. The agencies are looking at sedition charges “inside and outside the Capitol,” related to “transportation, funding, and planning” according to statements made during the briefing.
Michael Sherwin, the Acting U.S. Attorney for Washington, DC, announced that there have been more than 70 charges brought against unnamed individuals involved in both the planning and the carrying out of the attack on the Senate and House of Representatives that left at least six people dead and millions of dollars in property damage.
Sedition and treason both carry severe punishments that can include the death penalty. The full briefing is available through the tweet below.
