[BREAKING] A Dark Day For America: SCOTUS Overturns Roe v Wade, Giving States Power to Eliminate Abortion

Dominated by conservatives, three of whom were shoved through the nomination process during Donald Trump’s administration, the Supreme Court overturned  Roe v Wade, the landmark decision that guaranteed all Americans the individual right to privacy when it comes to making the personal choice of when to become a parent. The ruling came more than a month after the stunning leak of a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito indicating the court was prepared to take this momentous step.

At least 26 states will now fully ban abortions under any circumstances thanks to Friday’s decision, with no exceptions for rape, incest, or medical situations that may endanger the pregnant person. The Court is now at odds with a majority of Americans, who favored preserving Roe, according to opinion polls.

Chief Justice John Roberts would have stopped short of ending the abortion right, noting that he would have upheld the Mississippi law at the heart of the case, a ban on abortion after 15 weeks, and said no more. Clarence Thomas, who is currently under scrutiny as his wife, Ginni Thomas, is negotiating her appearance with the January 6th House Select Committee in relation to her part in the plot to overturn the election, first voted to overturn Roe thirty years ago. Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan — the reduced liberal wing of the court — were in dissent.

In the final opinion issued Friday, Alito wrote that Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the 1992 decision that reaffirmed the right to abortion, were “wrong the day they were decided and must be overturned,” effectively inserting his personal politics into a decision where they didn’t belong. The Constitutional right to privacy has now been negated for millions of people and all future American generations.

Blue states are now preparing for the influx of patients from nearby Red states seeking reproductive healthcare. The entire West Coast is already set up to be a “Sanctuary Zone” thanks to the efforts of Governors Jay Inslee (WA), Kate Brown (OR), and Gavin Newsom (CA).
