Lunch
Grace and her grandson were almost on their way out of the eatery. They had had an enjoyable meal, and once they requested the receipt, Grace got set to pay.

Nevertheless, Christopher, who was 11-years-old, was an intelligent child and he realized that his grandmother had neglected to leave a tip. He glared at her with rage, prepared to reprimand her.
Spoiling Him
Grace Johnson and her grandchild Christopher ambled into the crowded diner. It was her chance to treat her grandson, and she enjoyed nothing more than showering him with a delicious burger and fries.

The smell of different meals filled the room, giving it a lively atmosphere. The couple sat down in their booth, each with a menu. Grace was known to be picky and hard to please.
Loved The Burgers
They had been to the diner in the past, and although Grace didn't care for the food or the way they were treated, she took her grandson there as she was aware he was fond of their burgers.

Christopher examined the menu and had already made up his mind about what he would order. In addition, he requested something extra, inquiring politely if it would be alright to get a portion of onion rings.
A Sweet Boy
Grace beamed at her grandson. He was such an awesome and gentle kid. “Yes, honey. You may choose whatever you like today. Bear in mind, it's my turn to give you a treat, so don't hesitate,” she told him.

He was delighted to discover that he was allowed to request whatever he desired as he had already been wanting the ice cream sundae for afters.
Placing The Order
Before long, a server showed up to accept their requests. Christopher didn't hesitate to give his.

It was mid-day when Grandma was presented with her grandchild's request. He asked for a double cheeseburger with fries, onion rings, and a chocolate milkshake. Grandma was delighted by his politeness and the courage he showed when placing his own order.
Grace's Turn
After the waitress had obtained Christopher's selection, she said courteously, "I'll bring it right out for you, sir." Christopher wore a grin, and his face was somewhat flushed.

The waitress then looked to Grace to take her request. “What would you like, Madam?” she inquired. However, Grace was still browsing through the list of options.
A Ridiculous Request
I'm not sure. Nothing on this list looks very appetizing. Is it possible to get a Caesar salad or a steak with a delicious mushroom sauce? Can your chef make that for me?

The waitress, Ellie, did her best to hide her displeasure. Her coworkers had forewarned her about Grace's challenging personality, so she endeavored to remain as civil and amiable as possible.
Disgusted
Sorry Ma'am, our chef is only able to prepare the dishes that are listed on our menu. But we do offer chicken fried steak with a scrumptious house-made mushroom sauce," suggested Ellie as an alternative.

Grace wrinkled her nose in revulsion. "Yuck! That's revolting. No way would I eat that, not even for money. Do you have anything else that's not deep-fried and covered in strange stuff?
Keeping Her Composure
Ellie attempted to remain calm, yet her tolerance for this hard woman had almost reached its limit. She glanced up and spotted her co-workers smirk and giggle, knowing she was finally experiencing the renowned Grace Johnson way.

Ellie offered to give me a bit more time to review the menu, believing I would be able to find something that I enjoy. Unfortunately, this didn't help me make a decision.
Excuse Me?
Grace was irritated. "What did you say? I asked for help, so why aren't you trying? Do I have to talk to your boss or are you going to offer some advice?" Grace snapped.

Ellie was surprised. She hadn't thought this behavior would be so impolite. She had been standing for 10 hours already, and this was the exact opposite of what she wanted.
A Salad
My apologies, Madam. We have a multitude of salads to choose from, for example a yummy chicken and corn salad with blue cheese sauce. It's really yummy. I would strongly suggest it.

Ellie had not yet got to the end of her words when Grace answered impolitely, "Yes, alright, I will take that. You have been here for a long time anyway. Go get the salad and don't forget my grandchild's request.
Feeling Sorry For Her
When Ellie exited, Christopher cast a glance at his grandparent. He was astonished by how she had acted toward the hapless waitress. The attendant had been attempting to be of assistance, yet his grandparent had been exceedingly sarcastic in her answers.

He was filled with remorse for the server, and he wanted to bring the issue before his grandmother, though he was scared it would spoil their outing.
A Very Difficult Woman
He always realized that his grandmother had a notoriety for being troublesome when she was out, but he never anticipated her to be this discourteous.

She behaved as if she was above everyone else, and he was humiliated to be around her. He pondered why she could not just be nice and considerate towards people.
A Sullen Look On Her Face
He didn't desire to spoil the mood, yet he observed the server as she fulfilled her duties to the other tables. She had an unhappy appearance. He was aware that it was due to his grandmother.

He was terribly hurt, and he wished he could do something to lift her spirits. His grandmother had no idea that she had caused such distress.
The Food Arrives
After a quarter of an hour of anticipation, the server delivered their food. As she put Christopher's hamburger in front of him, he was sure to show gratitude.

He said with a lot of excitement, "This looks amazing - thank you!" Ellie smiled widely. "I'm sure you'll like it. I made sure the chef prepared your fries and onion rings extra crunchy," she said.
Eat Up
Next, Ellie put Grace's salad in front of her. "Here it is, Ma'am. A dish of chicken and corn with blue cheese dressing. I hope you like it," she said, grinning.

Christopher witnessed the work Ellie was doing with his grandmother. Unfortunately, it was all wasted when Grace simply said, "Alright, Christopher, let's start eating. I would prefer these lettuce leaves not to become too soft.
Not Nice
Christopher saw the waitress' cheerful attitude vanish. She had a disappointed expression and Christopher disliked that his grandmother could not be pleasant.

Christopher made a decision to consume his dinner. The burger tasted succulent and delectable, and the chips and onions were crunchy as the waitress had guaranteed. Christopher typically conversed with his grandmother regarding his school and pals, yet now he felt he had nothing to articulate to her.
Disappointed
He was extremely let down by her conduct. Nevertheless, he had no clue that the worst was yet to arise. As they completed their dinner, Ellie was present to clear the table and furnish anything else.

Just before Christopher could request his ice cream sundae, Grace stepped in. "I think that's enough for now, Christopher. May we get the bill? We can acquire your treat somewhere else. I am done here," she exclaimed.
Paying The Bill
Christopher was really disappointed, he had his fingers crossed that he would get the ice cream sundae. He wasn't sure if his grandmother would take him to this eatery again.

Grace examined the cost, laughed mockingly, and then pulled out her wallet. She put a few notes on the tray and stayed put until the waitress arrived. Christopher observed that she had a peculiar smirk on her face.
What Did You Expect
When the server came back, she gazed at the cash on the plate with a let-down expression. At that point, Grace said something.

You thought you'd get a reward? Not for the way you served me and my grandson - you wouldn't assist me to pick something to eat, and the chicken in the salad was really tough," she sneered.
Shock And Regret
Ellie felt taken aback. She had done everything she could to meet Grace's tough demands, yet she was being blamed for delivering inadequate assistance. Her face showed her dissatisfaction, but she remained composed.

Christopher was astounded by his grandmother's nerve. He gazed at her with a combination of shock and dissatisfaction. Grace, unaware of the turmoil in her grandson's head, kept a smug smile on her face.
Christopher's Outburst
Christopher could no longer control his rage and yelled out, "Grandma, that's wrong! The waitress did her utmost, but you were so harsh with her. You didn't even give her an opportunity. And now you won't even give her a tip? That's unjust!

Grace was astonished, not expecting her normally tranquil grandson to go against her. The people eating nearby began to look in their direction, feeling the rising strain.
Awkward Silence
The eatery became still and quiet. Ellie, who was still holding the now-empty dishes, was feeling a combination of discomfort and compassion for Christopher. In the meantime, Grace was now experiencing the implications of her arrogant demeanor.

Time seemed to stand still for a few moments, and then Grace let out a dismissive chuckle. "Come on Christopher, don't be so silly. We didn't get good service, so she doesn't deserve a tip. Let's get going.
Christopher's Decision
Christopher wasn't eager to drop the matter. He peered at Ellie and uttered, "I apologize concerning my grandmother. She isn't constantly this way. Appreciate your effort. You ought to be rewarded." With that, he pulled a few bills out of his pocket and laid them on the table.

Ellie felt moved by the little boy's action, but Grace was enraged. She grabbed Christopher's arm and dragged him towards the exit. Other people who were having dinner there gave each other looks of disapproval, some of them even shaking their heads in disapproval.
A Grandson's Wisdom
When Christopher and his grandmother left the restaurant, he had a serious look on his face. He told her that it isn't appropriate to act that way towards others, especially when they are only doing their job. Christopher reminded his grandmother that it is important to be kind and thankful.

Grace, with a combination of shame and boldness, mumbled, "I don't mind. She didn't deserve a gratuity.
Christopher's Revelation
Christopher, possessing a knowledge beyond his years, answered, "Grandma, it's not just about the gratuity. It's about how we treat people. And I heard what you said about the chicken being arid when it wasn't. You deceived. You shamed me, and you wounded that server. That's not how I wish to be.”

Grace stopped, understanding the influence her behavior had on her grandson. She couldn't envision him opposing her with such ferocity.
The Car Ride
The car journey back was very quiet. Christopher was looking out of the window, reflecting on what had happened that day. Grace felt sorry for her selfish attitude, which was something she had never experienced before.

Once Christopher and his grandmother had returned, he immediately went to his bedroom, leaving her to ponder her deeds without his presence. Would she come to understand that she had done something wrong?
An Apology
The next day, Grace was still feeling remorseful about the situation at the diner. She decided to go back, not to eat again, but to apologize to Ellie. She located Ellie, who was tidying up the tables, and mustered up her courage to say something.

I am sorry for how I acted yesterday. I was in the wrong, and I should not have spoken to you in that way. I apologize," Grace said, with sincere regret in her gaze.
Elle's Forgiveness
Ellie, amazed at Grace's impromptu expression of regret, stared at her before giving a faint grin. "I am very thankful for your contrition, Madam. Everyone has days that are not very good. Just keep in mind that being kind can take you far.

Grace consented, comprehending the accuracy in Ellie's remarks. She exited the café with a recently achieved cognizance and a pledge to adjust her feeling of superiority.
A Turning Point For Grace
The episode at the eatery was a milestone for Grace. She began to evaluate her behavior and how it influenced the people close to her, in particular her grandchild. Christopher's sincerity and sympathy made a perpetual effect on her, demonstrating to her an essential instruction regarding the significance of benevolence and appreciation.

Starting then, Grace deliberately tried to be kind to other people, recognizing the real worth of privilege. She was successful in patching things up with Christopher, and they kept going to the diner, where eventually Christopher got an opportunity to eat the ice cream sundae.
