Borat Actress Maria Bakalova Describes Fears During Rudy Giuliani Scene
Maria Bakalova, the actress who played Borat’s 15-year-old daughter in his new movie, has been sharing her thoughts from filming, and says there were genuine concerns about Rudy Giuliani’s behavior during his scene.
In Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Maria Bakalova play a father and daughter trying to get a gift to Vice President Mike Pence. Throughout the movie, they interact with individuals who don’t know exactly what they’re being sucked into. Rudy Giuliani is one example.
In his scene, Giuliani believes he’s being interviewed by a young reporter who pets his leg and coos at him, then invites him to have a drink in the bedroom of the hotel suite. He strokes her lower back, then lies down and puts his hand in his pants, in a move he claims was simple shirt-tucking.

However, according to HuffPost, Bakalova wasn’t so sure about Rudy’s intentions — and neither was Cohen. He burst into the room — in character — to stop whatever events might take place. Bakalova says she’s glad he interrupted when he did.
“If [Sacha Baron Cohen] were late, I don’t know how things were going to go. But he came just in time,” she said, adding that the scene would show everyone Giuliani’s “true colors.” Pressed on whether she believed he was really just retucking his shirt — while lying on a bed in a room with a young woman whose phone number he had just requested — she only turned the question back to the interviewer: “What do you think he was doing?”
