Bjork is one of the most misunderstood musicians in the industry. Over the years, Bjork has made many ripples in pop culture, but how much do you really know about her? Despite the fact that Bjork has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Bjork. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: She Sent Flowers to the Man Who Tried to Kill Her. Well, technically, she sent flowers to the family of the man who tried to kill her. A man named Ricardo Lopez tried to kill Bjork in 1996 by sending her a sulfuric acid bomb. He later killed himself, and Bjork sent his family flowers.

Number Fourteen: She Was Scared of Television. Bjork confessed in a 1988 video that she was afraid of television because of an Icelandic poet. According to the poet, your brain is so busy processing the images on the screen that it cannot determine what’s “right” or “wrong.” However, by the end of the video, she concludes that television is not, in fact, bad.

Number Thirteen: She has a Tattoo From an Icelandic Book of Magic. Bjork’s iconic tattoo on her left arm is actually from an Icelandic book of magic. The tattoo is of something called a “Vegvisir,” which translates to “signpost.” The symbol was often used to prevent people stuck in harsh weather from becoming lost.

Number Twelve: Iceland’s Government Gifted Her With an Island. Yes, Bjork is just that special. The Icelandic government offered her an island as a gift. The island is also knowns as “Bjork Island,” and it was offered to her as a token of appreciation for her promoting Iceland from abroad. She ultimately declined the offer.

Number Eleven: She Was in an Inappropriate Band. Inappropriate for children, anyway. Before she went solo, Bjork was in a band whose name translates to “Cork the Bitch’s Ass.”

Number Ten: She Believes Everyone Is Bisexual. Bjork revealed in an interview that she thinks everyone is bisexual “to some degree or another.” She went on to say that choosing between men and women was like “choosing between cake and ice cream.”

Number Nine: She Ate Puffin. Bjork said that the weirdest thing she ever put in her mouth was a puffin.
