The famous Access Hollywood Tape, released in October of 2016, could have derailed Donald Trump’s presidential ambitions. Instead, he was able to capture the White House and it was host Billy Bush’s career that was damaged by Trump’s comments. Bush has now returned to the air as the host of Extra.

During the fallout from the controversy, Bush said that he spoke with many people about how to move forward with his career. During an interview with CBS’ Gayle King, Bush said that one of the people he spoke with is his first cousin and former President, George W. Bush.
Billy Bush said it was George W. who called him and asked, “You’re not laying in bed, are you?” The TV host responded, “I was like, I got out of bed, No, why would I be laying in bed? Should I do this? Should I do that? I’m so mad, I should fight back.”

His famous cousin told him, “Nope. Just, you know, take what they give you and walk away and work on you.” Billy Bush took the advice and will now be returning to the air.
He also said that he doesn’t have hard feelings about Trump’s role in his plight. He told King, “No. I mean he — he was being him. I think part of that personality and character is why he was successful in a boardroom making people fight over lemonade stands.”
While Bush does not hold any grudge against the President, he did say last week that he would like to interview on Extra at some point.
